A Bursary at Withington Girl’s School
Members of the extended Lejeune family, working with Development staff at Withington Girls’ School, have established a Bursary fund to honour the memory of our ancestor Jane Louisa Lejeune.
Louisa Lejeune is revered at Withington Girls’ School, both as a co-founder in 1889 of the school and as its longest serving Governor (47 years). And she is the matriarch to which Lejeune family members can directly trace their ancestry.
Here are some of the details of the fund (shorthand name 3LF).
Why a bursary fund and why should you consider making a donation? To quote from the WGS website:
“You can give talented girls from disadvantaged families the education they deserve through a Withington bursary. You can provide an outstanding educational experience for all our pupils. And you can inspire the next generation with advice and support as they plan to make their own mark on the world.”
Currently one in six students receive some form of bursary support and the school’s goal is to increase that to one in five.
